About me

I'm Joseph Shomali, an entrepreneur with a profound 15-year journey in the exhilarating gaming industry and product management. My unwavering passion for product development, startups, and the ever-evolving world of video games has been a driving force in my career and dozens of games an products in my portfolio.

Currently, I hold the role of Head of Product at Salalem in Amman, Jordan. Here, I've had the privilege of contributing to a digital sales transformation, igniting outbound marketing strategies, and guiding our team to new heights. Our accomplishments include the successful launch of Salalem's mobile app and significant growth in our sales pipeline. Additionally, I've had the opportunity to enhance user experiences with captivating gamification features.

Simultaneously, I'm a co-founder of Ringo Communication, a development studio recognized for its innovative projects. From Ringo to Vemerse and the upcoming Whespr—an anonymous honesty and positivity app poised to challenge conventions—we're continuously redefining how people connect and engage.

My entrepreneurial journey began with the co-founding of NASSONS Entertainment Studios in 2006—a game development studio that ventured into PC and XBox360 titles. I then moved on to establish Aranim Mobile, one of the early mobile game development studios in the MENA region. Subsequently, I founded Play 3arabi, a pioneering games publisher focused on the MENA region. With a portfolio boasting dozens of launched games, I secured the necessary funding and witnessed over 5 million downloads across our titles. Beyond leading the product team, I navigated legal and financial complexities, represented the company at industry events, and crafted a vision that contributed to our success.

My product journey began as a Product Manager at Peak Games in Istanbul, where I worked on multiple products that captured audiences.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Jordan, which laid the foundation for my journey into the gaming cosmos.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I'm deeply committed to mentoring emerging talents and startups. I've contributed to GameFounders KSA and remain active with Founder Institute, where I share my expertise in metrics, analytics, and product management.

Product Design / Management

My passion and strong suite is in product. Design, management, analytics, enhancements, etc... because I have an eye for detail, technical background, passion for UX (and psychology) and good communication, I thrive on making products shine.

Marketing / Business Development

You don't run a games publisher for 7 years without learning a thing or two about marketing, sales, and business development. I have hands on experience in B2C and B2B marketing, as well as the sales process, and was lucky enought to work on products that reached millions.

Development / Prototyping

While I do not highlight it, I am still in touch with the inner developer that I am. I love problem solving, and bringing things to life, and while designing and guiding the process is a lot of fun, I still enjoy the occaisional 'building it with my own hands'.

Business Intelligence / Analytics

You either love looking at sheets full of data, able to visualize it (with a tool or someone to help you do it), or you don't. Luckily I love looking at sheets, and I am able to use (or even build) tools to visualize them. Let's dig deep into what's hurting and turn pain into opportunity!

Consultancy / Mentorship

If there is something I love more than creating great games and products, it is helping others with theirs. Whether it is games or other tech products, from establishing, to team building, to business modeling, to investment, to product, validation, etc... let's have a chat!
